Hi, I'm inky

 HP’s New Photosmart D5460, D7560 Printer.

We are testing the D5460 printer at this time. So far it looks very promising. This model will print directly on a inkjet printable CD or DVD disk. Text printing is excellent and photo printing is amazing. We will be releasing a refill kit and a Auto Refill System for this model very soon.

The printing system includes a single dual drop volume printhead that delivers an extremely small drop size. The printhead is removable for easy replacement if needed.

The five ink system includes four HP 564 dye ink cartridges, cyan, magenta, yellow and photo black for vivid color and black-and-white lab-quality photos. The fifth cartridge contains black pigment ink for laser-quality black text on plain paper.

This printer follows Canon’s individual cartridge concept and uses a replaceable printhead just like Canon.

New Update:

The first set of cartridges that came with the printer printed

70 - 8 1/2 x 11 pages. Then the low ink warning came on and we refilled the cartridge. We then printed  over  200 pages before needing to refill the cartridge again.

We pushed in the filling plug on top of a new cartridge and found out that the standard cartridge that HP sells for $ 9.99 is only filled with ink in the front sponge. The back ink chamber is not filled with ink and that is why we only printed 70 pages.

Look how small the ink chamber is. On the standard cartridge that sells for $ 9.99 this chamber is not filled.

If you buy the XL cartridge that sells for $ 14.99 the ink chamber is filled with ink. Both have lock out chips.

They added a lock out chip to stop refilling of the cartridge. We where able to refill the cartridge four times before the chip stop printing that color. Once the chip locks out the color it will no longer print and you will need to buy a new cartridge.

We are working on replacement chips and clear refillable cartridge.

WARNING! DO NOT FILL THE EMPTY CHAMBER WITH INK.

THIS WILL CAUSE THE CHIP TO FAIL!!.

  • Print documents at speeds up to 33 pages per minute in black  and 31 in color.

  • Print directly on CDs and DVDs

  • Print 4 x 6" snapshots in as little time as 17 seconds.

  • Skip the PC: view, edit, and print using only a memory card and the 1.5" color display

  • 125-sheet input tray, 20-sheet automated photo tray, automatic paper sensor

  • Edit, organize, share, and print from your PC with the HP Photosmart Essential software

The HP Photosmart D5460, D7560 Printers uses HP’s new five-ink printing technology.

The printing system includes a single dual drop printhead that delivers an extremely small drop size, allowing users to print finely detailed images and graphics with smooth transitions.

The five-ink system includes cyan, magenta, yellow and photo black for vivid color and black-and-white lab-quality photos. The fifth cartridge contains black pigment ink for laser-quality black text on plain paper.

Here we show our first proto type Auto Refill System. We have tested the printer using the Canon cartridges. So far the page count is at 528

and counting.

We are working on refillable cartridges and auto reset chip for HP's new line of printers.
