How to clean the Epson printhead needles.

How to clean the Epson printhead needles.

Remove the cartridges and with the aid of a flashlight you will see very small holes in the top of the needles. The needles are use to puncher through the clean plastic seal on the bottom of the cartridge. The needles can become clogged over time causing  poor print quality. Ink must flow through the tiny holes into the printhead. If the ink is restricted it will cause poor printing because not enough ink will get to the printhead.

The needles can become clogged with ink.

Make sure you un-plug the printer when you are doing the cleaning.

Purge and clean the printhead after you clean out the needles

It is very important the hose fit tight over the needle and never push down to hard. If the hose slips off the needle while pushing it the spray will be all over you, the printer and the house

Fill the syringe with some hot Windex and place the hose over the needle and push down and then pull up. Let it sit for awhile, then do the same thing again. You should see some ink being pulled back into the syringe.

Fill the hose and syringe with a little ink and very slowly push the ink into the printhead. This will help prime the printhead. Install the cartridges and do a cleaning and a nozzle check.
