Poor Color When Printing.

First Step1. Do a nozzle check to see if any color is missing. Then do a few cleaning to see if this will fix the problem. If your yellow is not printing the correct color then remove it and look to see if black ink has been drawn into it.

Here is what we found out when we had a color problem. This can happen with refillable cartridges, CIS system or Epson original cartridges. Not sure why this happens but we have seen this problem many times before. A color will migrate across to another color in the printhead and then be draw into the color cartridge next to it. This is why sometime you do not get the correct print out. The yellow is the most noticeable as you will see from the photos below. The yellow will look dark.

We pulled out the cartridges and this is what we found. Black ink was drawn into the yellow cartridge.

We sell  tips that you can put on any syringe that will pull the ink out through the bottom if the ink port. By do this you can remove the contaminated ink.

After removing the contaminated ink put a piece of tape over the ink port. This will stop any air from entering the cartridge when you are priming it from the top.

Remove the plug near the hose on top of the cartridge. This is where you will re-prime the cartridge.

Insert the tip of the syringe into this hole and pull up on the plunger. Keep doing this until you see 1 mls of ink in the syringe. Then replace the plug. See photo

It is a good idea to prime the printhead before installing the cartridges back in the printer, We sell syringes with the correct hose size for this purpose or you can make your own. While holding the hose very slowly push some ink into the printhead about 1 mls should do it. This will help push out contaminated ink in the printhead. This is also a good way to prime the Epson Printhead should you loose a color.

Warning! the hose must fit tight around the needle of the printhead and you must hold it on with the help of a paper towel. If you let the hose slip off you will have ink all over you the room and the printer. This will make a very big mess.

Install the cartridges back into the printer and do a cleaning then a nozzle check to see if all the nozzles are working.
After doing three cleanings the nozzle check was perfect.

Never do more then three cleaning at a time. Let it sit for about 2 or 3 hours then you can clean again.
